(b. Guatemala, 1968).
He studied at the National School of Fine Arts from 1984-89 and subsequently spent two years learning in the workshop of the renowned Guatemalan artist, Elmar R. Rojas. He has been a part of group and individual exhibitions both in his native country and internationally throughout the decade of the 1990s. His works are mysterious and subtle but contain a definite regional and therefore personal message. Auyon's works on paper and his larger works in oil all utilize indefinite figures and objects under luminous lights and tragic, pleading stances. Petición con Mapa suggests and remembers the constant burials recurrent in a country in strife. Guatemala is plainly etched out next to the kneeling figure. Flowers in hand, the muted form seems to refer to a personal and to a national - prayer for a country often shrouded in the darkness of violence. Most recently, Francisco Auyón was the winner of the Tlahcuilo Prize at the First Biennial of Painting
