(b. Barquisimeto, Venezuela, 1969; lives and works in Spain).
Apóstol studied art history at the Central University of Venezuela and photography at the Ricardo Armas School. He has, from the beginning of his career, worked on the concept of masculinity and its surrounding prejudices in the Latin American context, as well as reflecting on the decadence of the modernity project and the proposal of new readings on contemporary landscape, a subject which has been accentuated in series such as Residente Pulido, Fontainbleu and Caracas Suite. Alexander Apóstol, has held individual exhibitions in cities such as Caracas, Río de Janeiro and Nueva York, as well as participating in the Havana and Sao Paulo – in the ARCO 97 and ARCO 2003 editions – biennials, among other collective shows. He has been artist-in-residence at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Maracay, Venezuela; and participated in workshops on photoengraving in the state of Vermont in the U.S.A.
