Architects by training, Teresa Ayuso and Juan Luis Morales left their native Cuba in the early 1990s to build their professional career in Europe. Since then, Atelier Morales has flourished as a multi-media collective. It promotes Cuban art, architecture and design in different cities in France where it has accomplished projects that include all: façade and furniture design, murals, paintings, collages. It exhibited the paintings on digital photography series, titled "Bohíos" (Cuban peasant huts), at The Armory Show, 2003, as a part of the Nina Menocal gallery project. The artists live and work in Paris with their two children. On his own, Morales Menocal has also won the prestigious ŒACoup de coeur de l'année¹ in 2001 for his book La Havane, quartiers de lumière (Ediciones Telleri/Vilo Internacional, Paris).
