(b: Mexico City, 1969; lives in Los Angeles).
Botey worked in experimental theater at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México before moving to London to pursue an undergraduate degree in fashion design at the Central Saint Martins School of Art and Design. In 1998, the National Foundation for Culture and the Arts granted her a full scholarship to complete a master’s of fine art at the University of California, Irvine (2000). She has worked on the art direction and costume design for a number of productions, including Las perras en celo: exhivilización which closed the IV International Performance Festival at Ex-Teresa Arte Alternativo in Mexico City (1995) and Lady Muck and Her Burlesque Review presented at the Nottingham Festival of Arts for Today (Nottingham, England, 1996). Botey’s video installation Athanor: Sacred Homes was presented in the group exhibition "At the Curve of the World" at Track 16 Gallery (Los Angeles, 1999)
