(b. Heredia, Costa Rica, 1962). He studied art from 1974-79 in Costa Rica and then in 1983-85 at the Zuricob Academy of Art in Moscow, Russia. His work has undergone several stages in regards to content; his initial paintings displayed landscapes of the Costa Rican coast and its people. Gonzalez then began painting a series of stylized figures representing the black Caribbean. Later works also explored religious themes within Latin America, including angels.
