Mario Marti studied at the University of El Salvador from 1960-1967, searching for his ancestral roots through art and art history, and then traveled throughout Europe identifying his artistic choice of Abstract Expressionism. The artist’s favorite mediums are vibrantly colored paint, mixed-media assemblages, tempera on paper and transparencies. In 1967 Mario was chosen to represent El Salvador in the Fifth Biennial of Paris, France. Marti believes, "that freedom is essential in art. The artist must be free to create and the spectator free to interpret. My art is designed to arouse and transport the many complex emotions of the viewer, freeing him to find his own truths and meanings. I do not believe that it is necessary to insist on only one interpretation and to do so, would only inhibit the creative process.
