Columbian artist residing in New York City for many years. Although he has developed an artistic language in this city, his art reflects the cultural values, ideals, the daily life and carnival of his birthplace Barranquilla, Colombia. The interior luminosity of his paintings comes from the study and analysis of great masters like Giotto, Van Eyick among others. The sense of timelessness on his paintings comes from the study of the impressionists. The lines on his paintings are primitive and simple but they represent the mood of people that sees beyond its present day challenges. A people inspired by its surroundings, the mountains, street life, the marketplace, its music. The colors on Vidal's paintings remind us of the magic of the tropics, where the greens, the blues, the reds, the yellows, take on life of their won and become chromatic gods that bewitch you with an ultrasensory perception of beauty. Francisco Vidal's paintings speak to you through the sounds
