(b. Paraguay, 1910). Lili del Monico was founder of Paraguay’s Art Group, in 1953, along with Josefina Pla, Olga Blinder, and Jose P. Parodi. The Art Group was formed because of the dissatisfaction for the reigning Center for Plastic Arts. A couple of months after forming the Art Group, Lili del Monico and her companions organized "Paraguayan Modern Art Week" where they publicly destroyed their paintings, ceramics and sculptures outdoors because they were denied access to the only available exhibition hall. In 1964, the tenth anniversary of Modern Art Week retrospective was held. The group began Paraguyan modern art with rebellion in the face of much opposition. Lili del Monico’s art consisted mostly of figurative painting, with light tones and generously applied pure colors. After being extremely active in the Art Group movement, Lili del Monico discontinued her art to pursue other interests.
