(b. Medellin Colombia, 1945). His work gained recognition when he was awarded first prize in the Salon Nacional Independiente in Colombia in 1972. In 1975 he was given his first solo exhibition at the Galeria Oficina in Bogota. He also began exhibiting with the group "Los Once" that same year. In 1977, Uribe received a government grant to travel to Paris. He was selected to represent Colombia in the 1977 Sío Paulo Bienal. His work was included in two other important exhibitions the following year: Los Novisimos Colombianos at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Caracas and Primera Bienal del Grabado de America in Maracaibo. He was also involved in a series of experimental contemporary art exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art in Bogota called Proyectos.
