(b. Caracas, Venezuela, 1959) Arturo Herrera received a BFA from the University of Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1982 and an MFA from the University of Illinois at Chicago, Illinois in 1992. The artist's collage, Almost Home, consists of portions of comics, children's books, cards, and cartoons. It is a website project where the viewer is invited to make diptychs from the various collages, with the collage options appearing randomly. He utilizes diverse media in his pieces: photographs, fragments from coloring books, felt, fabric, copying paper, sculpture and he has been creating large scale felt works since 1998. In Vertical Paintings the artist creates an installation for the ceiling of the third floor, rather than the walls.
