(b. Havana, Cuba, 1955). Ricardo Brey, who lives and works in Ghent, Belgium, creates his installations approaching space from a free stance, working by intuition rather than aesthetic formula. He works at the crossroads of construction and deconstruction, aiming to instill life to shapes with the interaction of their meanings. For the artist, all materials are able to transmit a spiritual quality. The everyday objects acquire a new semantic.

In 2000, the artist was invited to be the artist-in-residence at the Crestet Centre D'Art, in France, as part of a dynamic policy of openness to multidisciplinary creation. He worked on site and then exhibited his drawings, installations, and objects in construction that, due to the proportion of its volumes and their relation to nature, appear as a stunning work of art. The topic selected was the current notion of "savage". Around this idea, Brey gathered, accumulated, and built using natural materials such as leaves, branches, and soil
