(b. 1955, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil).
Daniel Senise studied engineering at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro and at the Escola de Artes Visuais do Parque Lage. He was a professor at the University and has exhibited his art in Europe and the United States since 1983. Senise is one of several Brazilian artists whose work is based on earlier Brazilian artistic traditions. Unlike work by European artists, it captures the essential aspects of earlier traditions without being nostalgic. The eroded surface of his Untitled (Bell) (1989) seems to refer to past traditions, while what is painted shows a commitment to modern abstraction.
