(b. Sío Paulo, Brazil, 1957). He studied at the FAAP University in Sío Paulo. While his work is considered Pop art, it did not strictly adhere to the established definition for the genre (presenting straightforward images aimed at the masses). In the 1990s, his series of cartoon-inspired paintings led him to create a series of sculptures based on these images. Romangolo is particularly renowned in Brazil for a series of sculptures based on the works The Prophets by Brazilian sculptor Aleijadinho. He is also well known for three-dimensional works based on the Italian Gianlorenzo Bernini's baroque allegoric sculptures. He has participated in several solo and group shows, including Painting as a Way, in 1983 at the Museo de Arte Contemporaneo, Sío Paulo, Trasvanguard and Culture in 1985 at the Museum of Modern Art, Rio de Janeiro, and the Sío Paulo Bienale in 1987.
