(b. Pessoa, Paraiba, Brazil, 1944).
Camara studied painting at the School of Fine Arts at the Federal University of Pernambuco under Mario Nunes, Laerte Baldini and Fernando Barreto, and psychology at the Catholic University of Pernambuco. Camara utilizes the media of painting, printmaking and digital art. His works are mostly figurative, and as provocative as they are mysterious. At times Camara juxtaposes seemingly unrelated images to form something altogether new. In other works he makes direct references to great figures in art history or comments on modern society. Since 1962 Camara has written about art for various magazines, and has a permanent coloumn in Diário do Pernambuco. Camara has exhibited both paintings and engravings in Brazil and abroad, and his works are part of permanent collections throughout the world.
