(b. Bolivia, 1942). Ribero has been a significant leader of the ancestralism movement in Bolivia, a movement that takes inspiration from formal and conceptual aspects of earlier Andean cultures. Ribero conceptualizes and stylizes themes from archaeological sites in the Cochabamba Valley. He also did a semi-abstract series based on the theme of the batán, the traditional indigenous grinding stone, that sanctified the object and placed it on a ritual altar. Sources: Edward J.
