(b. Dolores, Uruguay, 1932).
Ramos attended the National School of Fine Arts of Montevideo in 1951 where he studied under Vicente Martín. In 1959 he received a scholarship to study engraving techniques with Iberé Camargo and Johnny Friedlaender at the Museu de Arte Moderna in Sío Paolo. Later worked as a textile designer and newspaper illustrator. He traveled to Europe (1962-63) on a government scholarship and was a professor of drawing and painting at the School of Applied Arts of Uruguay (1967-1977). He established (1971) the Center of Artistic Expression, a workshop that was still active in 1998. He exhibited at the Guggenheim Museum (1965) and the Sío Paolo Bienal (1969, 1985). In 1992 he was awarded a USIA fellowship to the United States, which included an artist residency at the Massachusetts College of Art. In 1997 Ramos represented Uruguay at the Venice Biennale.
