Arturo López Rodezno

(b. Santa Rosa de Copan, Honduras, 1908; d. 1975) He attended the School of Painting in San Alejandro, Cuba, as well as accomplishing his studies in engineering at Havana University. Subsequently he moved to Europe where he took classes on techniques in mural paintings at the julienne de Paris Academy. In 1940, the Governor of Tiburcio Caras commissioned him to create and organize the National School of Fine Arts that ran till 1951. On his return to Italy, he studied new techniques, specializing in enamels. He participated in two Hispano-American Biennials of Art in Spain and the IX Biennial in Sao Paolo.

Within his works one can find a mural located at an office in the Altanita Bank and another in the Honduran Maya agency. He studied Mayan ceramics for 34 years. As homage to Rodezno, Altanita Bank presented the bilingual work Ceramica Maya Arturo Lopez Rodezno in 1990.
