(b. Peru, 1940). Along with Tilsa Tsuchiya (1932-1984), Alberto Quintanilla (b. 1934), and Gerardo Chávez (b. 1937), Carlos Revilla was part of a group of Peruvian painters who recreated Surrealism in their work during the 1970s, helping to usher in a return to figuration in Peruvian painting that suggested connections to the old European masters.
