(b. Iguala, Guerrero, Mexico, 1943).
An abstract painter who has also experimented with sculpture and engraving, Irma Palacios has contributed to the continuing strength of abstraction in Latin American painting. She enrolled at La Esmeralda in 1963, and an exhibition of her work, titled Mineral Mirage, was held at the Museo de Arte Moderno in Mexico City and at the Museo de Bellas Artes in Santiago, Chile in 1993. A work such as Mirror of the Earth (1992) aptly reflects this title, with its variegated layers of earth-toned paint.
