(b. Tucumán, Argentina, 1936). Palavicino currently lives and works in Tijuana, Mexico. For more than twenty years Palavacino has dedicated himself to theater, and to the activation of public space through his performances. His work seeks to integrate and promote the participation of community members in cultural activities. Drawing on street theater traditions, as well as the use of pantomime and popular music, Palavicino collects stories and comments regarding local events from town members. Using these observations as his source material, he creates performances for each town in which he works. He locates his projects specifically in remote Mexican neighborhoods, which often lack an active cultural life. Palavicino participated in inSITE97, where his project consisted of bringing together 12 neighborhoods in Mexico with a group of actors, working together with the inhabitants of these communities.
