Leonel Benítez Efraín studied at the National School of Fine Arts and, despite his youth, has been exhibited in Honduras for over a decade. Like other artists of the region, Benítez' stylistic reaction to the political and social reality has been towards the Fantastic. His dark, surreal canvases seem fragmented and yet are full of images and movement.Ciudad Transparente seems to suggest neglect - of a city and its children - in the image of a lone, barefooted child sitting amongst a fantastic growth of plants and organic shapes.
